Letters: It’s a reasonable request to help pay for our local schools

A strong school system builds a strong community. As a fiscal conservative, I typically don’t support tax increases, but this proposal does not raise the tax rate. Dysart is making a responsible request that addresses needs now before costs rise.
The proposed bond is modest — less than a quarter of what neighboring districts ask — and clearly outlines how funds will be used: chillers, school buses and campus safety. Like our homes, school buildings age. We must keep them cool, safe and functional for students.
New buses are critical. When the last bond failed, walk zones had to expand due to insufficient transportation. This bond would restore safer routes at today’s prices.

The override continuation supports manageable class sizes and vital programs like the arts, athletics and career/technical education. These offerings enrich student experiences and prepare them for future success.
Dysart is a high-performing, “A-rated” district that delivers strong value to taxpayers. These measures are financially sound and timely.
I urge you to vote “yes” on the bond and override. It’s a wise investment in our students and our community — without increasing taxes.
