The influential, annual Surprise Retail Survey is available for residents to sound off on a favorite restaurant or retail store they’d like to see in the city.
Previous survey favorites have opened here thanks to the survey results.
In just the past few years, many of Surprise residents’ top 10 most-wanted restaurants and retailers have opened, including HomeGoods, TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Total Wine and More and Oregano’s Pizza Bistro.
Costco and In-N-Out Burger were previous most desired retailers and restaurants who eventually opened in Surprise.
Several more of the city’s most-desired businesses, such as Hobby Lobby, Dick’s Sporting Goods, American Furniture Warehouse, Aldi and Portillo’s are under development and will be opening soon. The city’s Economic Development Department is also actively working with others from past lists to bring more of the favorites to our community.
The 2024 survey aims to help the city identify retail strengths within the community, as well as pinpoint opportunities to bring additional amenities closer to home. Every response helps the Economic Development team better reach the retailers residents want the most.
The Surprise Retail Survey runs through Sunday, March 17, and is available at surpriseaz.gov/RetailSurvey.
The city also offers a youth-only survey to understand what the younger generation wants to see. The youth survey is for Surprise residents under the age of 18.
Local sales tax makes up nearly 40% of the city’s general fund revenues, which support public safety, parks and street maintenance.
