The Surprise City Council is making way for hundreds of new homes in the far northwest part of Surprise, where roads are still being built for the awaiting masses in future decades.
Having that infrastructure in place before people live there is music to the ears of Nick Haney, who represents the area on the city council.
The council on Sept. 1 voted to change 160 acres of land on the southwest corner of Deer Valley Road and 231st Avenue from rural residential to medium density residential to help make way for hundreds of single-family homes — as many as 960, although the final number will be known in further stages of the process.
