French chamber says ‘oui, oui’ to Surprise tour

The regional chapter of the French American Chamber of Commerce recently got a taste of what Surprise is all about as part of its Arizona City Series tour.

Members from the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the chamber on Nov. 21 toured some of the best parts of the city.

After starting with a city presentation at the West Valley Arts HQ Gallery next to City Hall, city and chamber officials led a Q&A session.

City officials, including Mayor Kevin Sartor and Economic Development Director Jeanine Jerkovic, took members of the chamber on a dashboard-guided bus tour of city landmarks Surprise Stadium and the Surprise Oasis Swim Center, as well as one of the city’s biggest companies, IRIS USA.

Flora Tromelin, the French American Chamber of Commerce Arizona board director, and West Valley Arts Council Executive Director Kathy Knecht were among those on the tour.

Kendra Pettis, the director of the city’s Sports, Entertainment and Culture Department, led attendes through a tour of Surprise Stadium, while IRIS USA Senior Management Specialist Tad Fujimaki showed off his company’s facility at 13423 W. Cactus Road.

Surprise Parks and Recreation Administrator Kasey Peterson and Parks and Recreation Supervisor James Schultz tag-teamed the tour lead on the Surprise Oasis Swim Center, which opened earlier this year at 12361 N. Perryville Road.

The Rocky Mountain chapter of the French American Chamber makes up the largest territory among all chapters it operates in the country.

It spans across Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming
