Benevilla’s Home Services program gets boost in Surprise

Medicare plan gives $25,000 grant to local care group

Surprise-based Benevilla announced it received a $25,000 grant from SCAN Health Plan to enhance its Home Services program.

SCAN Health Plan is one of the nation’s largest nonprofit Medicare Advantage Plans.

Benevilla’s Home Services program provides in-home support to seniors throughout the West Valley.

The funding will help Benevilla continue offering free, volunteer-driven services such as grocery shopping, transportation to medical appointments, minor home repairs and friendly visits.

These services empower older adults to live independently and safely in their own homes, which aligns with SCAN’s mission to keep seniors healthy and independent.

“This generous support from SCAN Health Plan strengthens our ability to care for seniors aging in place,” said Joanne Byers, president and CEO of Benevilla. “Their investment ensures we can continue meeting the growing needs of our community.”

For more than 40 years, Benevilla has cared for older adults and their families.

“We’re proud to support Benevilla’s Home Services program with this grant,” said Mercedes Perezchica, SCAN’s director of community giving. “By partnering with organizations like Benevilla, we aim to strengthen the support system for older adults in Arizona — ensuring they have access to the care and services they need to remain safe, independent and connect to their communities.”
