The Arizona Winds Concert Band will launch its 2026-27 concert season in Surprise with a high octane musical adventure celebrating the 100th anniversary of America’s most iconic highway.
The Great American Road Trip (celebrating Route 66’s centennial) opens Sunday, Oct. 11, at the Vista Center for the Arts, 15660 N. Parkview Place, inviting audiences to buckle up for a coast to coast journey told entirely through music and video.
The program begins at the very heart of the Mother Road with Robert Sheldon’s “Sixty Six.” Bright, rhythmic, and full of forward momentum, the piece captures the optimism and open road energy that made Route 66 synonymous with freedom. It sets the tone for the entire concert: a musical map unfolding mile by mile.
