African grocery store opens doors in Surprise

African and Caribbean food has arrived in Surprise, thanks to the new Africa Staples market, which officially opened with a ribbon cutting on Feb. 12.

Owners Ada Gbao and Hassan Bundu participated in the ribbon-cutting alongside Mayor Kevin Sartor, City Councilmember Earle Greenberg, Economic Development Director Jeanine Jerkovic and others.

The market is at 12801 W. Bell Road, Suite 111.

It’s open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and closed on Sundays.
