100-year-old vet to lead Surprise parade

Surprise's annual Veterans Day parade will again take place on Bullard Avenue on Nov. 11.

Leo Pooley is known around his home at Fellowship Square in Surprise for wearing his signature veterans cap.

People who know him say the 100-year-old likes to share stories of his life and greets people he meets.

Pooley is proud of his service. After all, he served his country 80 years ago in World War II.
