Sylvia Collins announced her retirement as Music Director of the Westernaires Chorus of Sun City West, according to President Ken Kunze.

“I have regretfully made this difficult decision because Father Time is taking me in different directions,” said Collins. “My six-year tenure with the Westernaires Chorus has been a wonderful experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed working with both long-time and younger and more vibrant members.”

Collins earned a bachelor’s degree in comprehensive music (vocal and instrumental) education at the University of Wisconsin and entered several high school choruses in competitions during her teaching career. She and her husband Bob have been Sun City West residents since retiring in 1998.

The 85-member mixed Westernaires Chorus, one of the oldest chartered clubs in Sun City West, performs four shows each spring and each fall in the Stardust Theater. The recent “American Journey” shows designed and directed by Collins played to sold out houses nightly.

Experienced music or chorus directors interested in applying for this position may obtain a job description and application for the Music Director position at westernaires.scwclubs.com. The application deadline is Friday, June 17, 2022.
