As the holiday season begins, ENCORE Needle and Craft Club is already busy creating handmade gifts that will bring comfort, warmth and joy to those in need throughout the community. ENCORE members Nona Johnson and Judy Brooks volunteer with Hospice of the Valley with handmade lap blankets destined for Hospice of the Valley. Members knit, crochet and sew beautiful handmade items throughout the year to support the local charities the club serves. The lap blankets created by Johnson and donated to Hospice of the Valley are more than handmade treasures they are a heartfelt gift of comfort to someone who needs it most. Giving back is at the heart of ENCORE. Throughout the year, members create hats, scarves, blankets, slippers, chemo caps, baby items, dementia activity pads, walker bags, rice bags and other useful and comforting items for local charities. Experienced crafters or individuals looking to learn a new skill and meet new people are welcome.
