Sun City West crafters create sparkly cards

Posted

Members of Scrapbooking, Papercrafts & More recently learned how to make cards resembling stained glass murals, but with added sparkle.

Instructor Bobbi Patterson taught participating members how to cut out artful designs from black cardstock or black vinyl using metal dies and then layer the images over clear adhesive backed vinyl. Once secure, a layer of fine grade shimmering opalescent glitter was applied over the entire design and background.

Then the coloring began; using alcohol markers, color was applied to each compartmentalized area of the designs so that the resulting creations resembled glimmering stained-glass windows. Along with an added greeting, each design will adorn the front of a special greeting card.

Learn how to make greeting cards, papercrafts or scrapbooks (traditional or digital) by joining SPAM in Beardsley Center’s Agave Room on Wednesdays (5-9 p.m.), Thursdays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.), Fridays (10 a.m.-3 p.m.) and Saturdays (10 a.m.-5 p.m.).
