Desert Garden United Church of Christ, 18818 N. 128th Ave., has been officially recognized as an “Open and Affirming” congregation.

This designation signifies its commitment to welcome and affirm all people regardless of ability, age, gender, racial and ethnic heritage, gender expression or identity, sexual orientation, cultural or religious beliefs, marital status and family configuration, social or economic status or political affiliation.

The Rev. Dr. Toni Hawkins, transitional conference minister of the Southwest Conference United Church of Christ, wrote to Desert Garden UCC: “By embracing this covenant, you not only affirm the inherent dignity and worth of every individual but also stand as a beacon of hope and acceptance within your broader community.”

DGUCC’s mission is to create an inclusive and compassionate community where everyone is valued and respected. The church offers worship services, mission opportunities, community events and opportunities for spiritual growth.
