Sun Cities set marijuana restrictions

No smoking, growing in public

When Arizona voters approved marijuana for recreational use in the November general election, some may have pictured joints being sparked in Sun Cities facilities.

But provisions of the new law allow local governing agencies to set regulations on the drug’s use. Recreation centers and HOA officials in Sun City and Sun City West took, or soon will take, action to do just that.

Recreation Centers of Sun City West officials reminded cardholders in a press release that smoking or growing marijuana on association property is prohibited. This includes inside club rooms, the greenhouse and agricultural fields, recreation facilities or on association-owned outdoor space, such as golf courses, walking tracks and Beardsley Park, 20011 N. 128th Ave.
