Rightway Pharmacy officials launched a new medication disposal program, aimed at combating substance abuse and protecting the environment.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, improper disposal of medications can lead to accidental poisonings and abuse, particularly among children and teens. In addition, flushing medications down the toilet or throwing them in the trash can harm the environment, as they can end up in waterways and soil.
The Rightway, 14806 N. Del Webb Blvd., medication disposal program offers a safe and convenient way for individuals to dispose of their unused or expired medications. Residents canimply bring their medications to any of the participating locations where they will be safely and securely disposed of.
“We are committed to being a part of the solution to the opioid epidemic and protecting the environment,” said Ken Patel, Rightway Pharmacist. “Our medication disposal program is just one way we are working to make a positive impact in our community.”
