Patchers meeting features fashion show in Sun City West

Posted

Every Palo Verde Patchers general meeting has a special program and, thanks to Nancy Steely, program chair, a fashion show of jackets was part of the most recent gathering.

Lisa Coulombe was the presenter of 40 jackets and coats. A variety of quilt techniques, hand embroidery, painting, hand-dyed fabrics, beading, threads and more were incorporated into each item.

Coulombe has been quilting for 35 years but developed the interest in incorporating quilts into jackets 30 years ago. She won numerous awards for her work including the Bernina Fashion Show and was twice published in McCall’s Magazine.

Coulombe has taught these techniques to various guilds and organizations and the Patchers hope for a class or two.

Before moving to Sun City West two years ago, Coulombe was a world traveler with her husband Pierre, a retired Naval officer. They also have two children and she has three cats.

Patchers members who modeled the jackets were Vivian Bjomlie, Karen Clarke, Sue Fitzsimons, Kathy Franz, Kathy Robers and Betty Winscot.
