Preparing to celebrate 33 years

The Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center welcomed Dr. Daniel Valdes to the vision and beauty care practice as it prepares to celebrate its 33rd anniversary.

Valdes, O.D., brings more than two decades of dedication, compassion and experience to the multi-faceted practice as the new assistant director of optometry.

“Dr. Valdes fits perfectly in to our community, which appreciates a provider who takes the time to get to know them as a person and not just a patient,” said Emilio M. Justo, M.D., medical director. “Dr. Valdes makes a point to get to know elements of your life and lifestyle that he can use to individualize a care plan that will have dramatic benefit to your quality of life. He has unique experience in technology, research and treatment that makes him a valuable asset to our growing practice.”

Dr. Valdes kicked off 2022 serving the community with routine eye exams for eyeglasses and contact lenses, as well as comprehensive medical eye exams. He has extensive experience treating or diagnosing glaucoma, macular degeneration, cataracts, dry eye, diabetic retinopathy and in treating eye injury or emergencies.

He treats patients primarily in the Sun City and Wickenburg offices, and can often accept emergency visits. He is taking new patients who would like to take advantage of his unique expertise.

“I am strongly motivated by innovation, a trait that serves patients as well,” Valdes said. “My love for optometry developed while conducting undergraduate research studies in virology pertaining to blindness during AIDS, at the University of Miami. Since that experience, I have worked closely with some of the nation’s leading surgeons in refractive surgery procedures and laser assisted cataract surgery with premium intraocular lenses. It is my true honor to work alongside Dr. Justo and this community.”

Valdes earned his Doctor of Optometry degree from Nova Southeastern University, where he graduated with honors. His Bachelor of Science degree is from the University of Miami, where he studied microbiology and virology. Valdes also earned an associate degree in science from the University of Michigan. Originally from Merritt Island, Florida, he spends his free time competitively cycling and engaging in other athletic activities.

The Arizona Eye Institute, in addition to eye exams, specializes in customized cataract and eyelid surgeries as well as other cosmetic services and products. Justo founded the practice in 1989 and has grown it to encompass cosmetic surgery and services over the years, in addition to comprehensive vision care.
