My country is in turmoil

OPINION — I remember clearly when my parents spoke highly of “Ike” at the dinner table as he was elected president. They often spoke of GOP conservative values and the freedoms guaranteed by our great Constitution.

It’s hard for me to believe what is happening now and why the party I could rely on in the past no longer has the backbone to stand up for what is right. Good Republicans who would speak against this craziness have left and more are leaving. Our country is being torn apart and values that were once important are being ignored.

Sending armed, masked agents into cities controlled by Democrats on the pretense of arresting and deporting criminals but arresting people with no criminal record, and even killing U.S. citizens, reminds me of what I read about in school; fascist regimes who controlled everything including free speech.
