Mortensen: Letter was in response to dare

Posted

Publishing a letter in response to a dare resembles a grade-school playground response.

Publishing Brian Reilley’s provocative and dangerously inaccurate letter (“Letter writer misinformed about masks,” Sun City West Independent, May 26, 2021) was an error in judgment made by the Opinion page’s editor. What is Mr. Reilley’s background in either science or medicine? Why would anyone believe Mr. Reilley’s wild claims about mask wearing as compared with recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Dr. Anthony Faucci and  thousands of other medical professionals?

I look for accurate and honest information in the media, whether it be a national news program or a local community newspaper. Not baloney spouted by someone who believes the mistruths pushed by the anti-mask crowd. You can do better than this.

J.E. Mortensen
