Four years ago, a local real estate office partnered with a community organization to raise money to purchase a box truck. Jerry Pickles, HomeSmart associate broker and real estate agent, and Mary Ann Michaels, HomeSmart real estate agent, donated $1,000 to kick off this community project, along with Jeannette Hochstatter, HomeSmart real estate agent.
Elks Lodge 335 and 2846, Scottsdale Lions Club, American Legion Post 62, as well as other community donors also contributed to this cause.
“We had anonymous donor that took us over the finish line because it was not just buying the truck; insurance, registration and maintenance all had to be included before it was donated,” said Michaels.
