Foundation offers free space to AARP volunteers

Posted

Sun City West residents may again participate in the AARP Tax Aide program at no charge.

The Sun City West Foundation is offering AARP tax volunteers office space in their facility, 14624 R. H. Johnson Blvd., for this service at no charge.

Karen Bertelsen, Helping Hands manager, said the Foundation building is also equipped with upgraded internet connections exclusively for tax-aide so returns can be filed electronically.

The service requires residents to make an appointment online at www.scwtaxaide.as.me. Walk-ins will not be accepted. The website will go online Wednesday, Jan. 15, and appointments are available beginning Monday, Feb. 3.

AARP relies on local volunteers who take pride in serving their peers. The tax aides are thoroughly trained, tested and certified in tax law.  Training is focused on the tax needs of low- and middle-income taxpayers with special emphasis on the unique needs of seniors.

In addition to providing free space for the AARP tax program, the Sun City West Foundation also offers Helping Hands equipment loans, banquet and meeting rooms and community service support with free use of the Foundation’s facilities as well as financial grants for transportation.
