Florence “Flo” Essary

Florence, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 9, 2023. Flo was born on August 16, 1945 in Inverness, Nova Scotia to Hector MacDonnell and Dorothy (Keizer) MacDonnell. She moved to the United States in 1963 and for a time lived in Boston, Mass. She moved to Sun City in 1998. Flo married Mackey Essary on Feb. 27, 2015 and they lived at their home in Sun City. Flo also is survived by her loving daughter, Lisa and her partner, Ray of Peoria. Flo doted on her two grandchildren, Isabella, age 12 and Dylan, age 19 and saw them as the glowing light in a heavenly sky. She and her spouse Mackey spent many hours celebrating the holidays with her family and especially enjoyed Christmas and Easter surrounded by warm moments and lasting memories. Flo is also survived by her sister, Kathleen and many family members who still live in Canada. Flo also embraced an enormous foundation of dear friends who loved her and who spent many hours with her and Mackey at Thanksgiving and other holidays, but more importantly and close to Flo’s heart was entertaining her friends at cookouts at her and Mackey’s home. Flo loved people and included all who entered her sphere; because she never knew a stranger and she loved to give warm and welcoming hugs that turned that stranger into a friend. She was a dedicated member of Unity Spiritual Center at 10101 W. Coggins Dr., Sun City, AZ 85351, where a memorial service will be held on Sunday, December 3rd, 2023 at 1:30 P.M. where the Rev. Sharon Connors will talk about the rich and wonderful life Flo lived.
