OPINION — Response to Constitution requires postal service to deliver ballots: The Constitution states very little about the U.S. Post Office. The Postal Act of 1792 adds more to it, as well as Kohl vs. United States, 1875.
A big change was the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970. Another big change came in 2022, whereby Congress approved a $107 billion financial overhaul of the U.S. Postal Service to modernize and invest in efficient service. Yet in 2023, the Postal Service still lost $6.5 billion and $9.5 billion in 2024.
