In an effort to provide continued care patients, The CORE Institute officials implemented a new orthopedic telehealth program that allows patients to see an orthopedic provider without having to travel to one of their offices. 

In response to the continued climb of COVID-19 cases nationally, recent changes to state and federal regulations allowed for the use of telehealth for patients with any medical issue or injury. Patients with new orthopedic injuries, as well as existing patients, can receive care from their home using their smartphone, tablet or desktop device.

“We know how important social distancing is during the COVID-19 crisis,” said Dr. David Jacofsky, The CORE Institute CEO.  “At the same time, we know that patients are still sustaining orthopedic injuries and our current patients still need to receive ongoing treatment and follow up. Our Telehealth program allows those in our community to be seen by one of our skilled providers without having to come into the office or go to the Emergency Room.”

CORE Institute officals can now utilize the Telehealth program to diagnose the severity of an injury that will help them minimize the number of patients in waiting rooms and increase social distancing, he added. If an X-Ray, MRI or bracing is needed, CORE practitioners can direct the patient to the closest facility where they can be treated in-person by a medical team.

The addition of telehealth comes one week after The CORE Institute began its Urgent Ortho program at seven locations across the Valley. The Urgent Ortho program allows patients to be seen by an orthopedic specialist on a walk-in basis with no appointment needed to help local hospitals and urgent care centers focus on treating patients with COVID-19 related symptoms.
