Many residents don’t realize how many resources are available through the Arizona Attorney General’s Office, especially resources designed to help protect Arizona seniors.
Property Owners and Residents Association officials are providing access to an Arizona Attorney General’s Office representative in Sun City West. Cindy Freitag, who has years of experience, is available at the PORA office every Monday morning by appointment.
Freitag can assist with consumer fraud and scams. If an individual believes a business has used deceptive practices or has questions about a possible scam, consumer fraud, home-improvement problem, misleading sales practice or other consumer concern, Freitag can help explain the appropriate resources and complaint process.
The Attorney General provides a free life care planning packet containing important Arizona forms, including a health care power of attorney, living will, mental health care power of attorney and pre-hospital medical directive. These documents help you put healthcare wishes in writing and designate someone to make healthcare decisions if the individual is unable.
The Attorney General provides resources for recognizing and reporting elder abuse, neglect and financial exploitation, including information about where to turn for help.
The office also provides information about senior living facilities, caregivers, legal resources and other agencies that may be able to assist.
Freitag can help individuals understand where to start and who to contact, but cannot act as a personal attorney. She will help connect individuals with the appropriate Attorney General resources and agencies.
Appointments are required. Call PORA at 623-584-4288 to get on the schedule.
