ARC supports charity with Sun City West tournament

The Automotive/Restoration Club of Sun City West held its fourth annual Charity Golf Tournament March 30 at the Deer Valley Golf Course, with a sold out field of 144 players.

The major sponsors for the tournament included Statz Insurance, Western State Bank and the Arizona Rattlers professional indoor football team. As in past years, the charity selected was Alzheimer’s AZ, which received a donation of $2,500.

One of the highlights to start off the event was a “Ball Drop” with assistance from the Sun City West Fire Department ladder truck. There were three payouts for the three golf balls closest to the cup. Winners are Susan Lewis, $300, Paul Swanson, $200, and Evan Jeska, $100.

“What a success this was, a huge thank you goes out to our sponsors, all the ARC volunteers and players who supported it, along with the staff at the golf course,” said Tournament Director Chuck Willkom.

After play, there was a dinner of hamburgers, brats, chicken breast and a choice of salads and cookies back at the ARC building. In addition, all foursomes received prizes for each player, ranging from rounds of golf from area golf courses to Range Finders and local area restaurant gift cards. Players also bought raffle prize tickets and won items such as a new golf bag, golf clubs and tickets to future professional golf tournaments. There were 30 raffle prize winners.
