ARC selected by international hot rod association

The Automotive Restoration Club of Sun City West hosted a tour of the ARC facility to members of “The Goodguys,” an international hot rod association based in Dallas. Members were in Phoenix for their Southest Regional Car Show in Scottsdale.

On Nov. 17, the ARC building was open to greet members for a tour and lunch. ARC was selected as one of three stops for tours during their regional car show based on uniqueness and potential interest to Goodguys members. Around 11:30 a.m., approximately 90 classic cars and 200 visitors pulled into the parking lot surrounding the ARC building.

Groups of 15-20 guests were greeted and provided a personal tour of the ARC shop and building, from the automated way ARC club members check in to the newest addition, the paint room.

ARC membership volunteers again stepped up and covered all critical areas for the event. Members staffing parking/traffic control, tours, food services and setup/tear down arrived around 9 a.m. and had everything ready to go on time.

Assistance for the event was provided by the RCSCW events, clubs, facilities and administration departments.

“Without the help of RCSCW staff, it would have been a real challenge for ARC to host this event,” stated ARC Club President Dean Lewellyn. “It was a great collaboration between a club and RCSCW.”

Guest speakers Dori Miller and Bill Schwind addressed the visitors. They provided a brief history of Sun City West along with all the reasons why Sun City West is a great place to retire.

The visitors were also treated to a hamburger/cheeseburger, bag of chips, cookies and beverage lunch. The weather cooperated with plenty of sunshine and nice temperatures. ARC members also brought some of their cars to complete the “classic and cool car” display for the day.

“After lunch, members of ARC and Goodguys shared stories, laughs and the love of classic cars,” stated ARC Manager, Sponsorships & Publicity, and event organizer Joel Piaskowski. “In addition, the coordination and cooperation with RCSCW events, clubs and facilities staff was essential to make this event happen. Overall, another great event for ARC and the Sun City West community!”
