Alton Brown at Mesa Arts Center Nov. 11

Posted

Television personality, author and Food Network star Alton Brown will bring “Alton Brown Live – Beyond The Eats” to the Mesa Arts Center, 1 E. Main St., on Thursday, Nov. 11.

Tickets go on sale at noon Friday, March 5,  at MesaArtsCenter.com or call 480-644-6500 during box office business hours.

Mr. Brown created a new form of entertainment — the live culinary variety show — with his “Edible Inevitable Tour” and “Eat Your Science,” which played in more than 200 cities with more than 350,000 fans in attendance.

“Alton Brown Live: Beyond The Eats” is the first on sale for MAC’s 2021-22 season. Mesa Arts Center will announce the full Performing Live season later this spring/summer. Mesa Arts Center’s theaters have been closed to the public since March 2020 but are anticipated to open in fall 2021.

Mr. Brown says fans can expect “more cooking, more comedy, more music and more potentially dangerous science stuff” at his Nov. 11 show.

Critics and fans have raved about the interactive components of Mr. Brown’s shows. He warns, “[p]repare for an evening unlike any other and if I call for volunteers… think twice.”

Mr. Brown has a knack for mixing together science, music and food into two hours of pure entertainment, the release states.

Mr. Brown has been on the Food Network for more than 20 years and is best known as the creator, writer and host of Good Eats, Good Eats: Reloaded, and Good Eats: The Return. He also hosted Cutthroat Kitchen and served as the culinary commentator on Iron Chef America. There are two James Beard awards with Mr. Brown’s name on them in a drawer in his office, and somewhere in the world there’s a coveted Peabody awarded for Good Eats that was stolen out of his car back in 2013. In his spare time, he’s working on his ninth book on food and cooking.

Information about Mr. Brown or the Beyond The Eats tour can be found on Facebook @altonbrown; Twitter @altonbrown; Instagram @altonbrown; or use the tour hashtag #AltonBrownLive.

Those with an appetite for more Mr. Brown can find additional show and ticketing information at altonbrownlive.com.

Mesa Arts Center’s theaters will reopen informed by CDC guidelines, state health department guidelines and best practices. Masks will be required of all visitors 6 and older. Hand sanitizer stations will be readily available, and extra cleanings of high-touch areas will occur throughout the event, the release states.

Alton Brown Live is produced by MagicSpace Entertainment. The company is headed by Lee D. Marshall, Joe Marsh, John Ballard, Steve Boulay, Dave Stinson and Kristy Maple and has been producing and presenting national tours, Broadway shows, concerts and museum exhibits worldwide for more than 35 years.
