Townsend wins Sun City's Lakes West tournament

Lori Townsend won the Lakes West Women’s 9-Hole Golf League 2024 March tournament.
She was awarded “Club Champion” by the March tournament co-chair Ann Babcock at the Lakes West 9-hole spring awards luncheon held April 10 at Angela’s Kitchen in Sun City Grand. Townsend was also the Lakes West 9-hole golf league club champion from 2016-2019 and 2022-2023 in the Lakes West 9-hole March women’s golf tournaments.
The Lakes West Women’s 9-hole golf league held their annual golf tournament in March, with play every Tuesday of the month. The golfer’s best scores determined the winners within various flights and the overall club championship.
Townsend is from Wasilla, Alaska. She and her husband Rick are now retired, but they own a specialty cabinet company with their son-in-law in Alaska. She began playing golf in 2006 and took lessons from a friend who was a golf pro. She is now an Arizona resident. Townsend was introduced to this area by her aunt, Sharon Olson, who plays in the same Sun City women’s Lakes West 9-hole league.
Townsend tied as “Club Champion” in the Sun City women’s city-wide golf invitational tournament at Quail Run Golf Course in March, 2023, and came in second place low gross this year in the golf invitational. She won the longest drive both days at the Quail Run Invitational Golf Tournament last year. She has also won the Lakes West March golf tournaments as club champion seven times.

Flight Two Low Gross - First, Jackie Kessler; second, Sue Bolsclair; and third, Diane DeMeyere and Jean Ehlman.
Flight Two Low Net - First, Becky Friedrichsen; second, Ginny Smith; and third, Judy Evans.
Flight Three Low Gross - First, Carol Lunz; second, Mary Agarwal; and third, Carol Moe.
Flight Three Low Net - First, Michelle Winker; second, Sylvia Pettit; and third, Linda Hudgins.
