Lori Townsend again won the Lakes West Women’s 9-hole Golf League’s 2025 March golf tournament. She was awarded Club Champion by tournament co-chair Ann Babcock at the league’s spring awards luncheon April 2 at Aunt Chiladas in Phoenix.
Townsend was also the Lakes West Women’s 9-hole Golf League’s club champion in 2024, 2023, 2022, 2019, 2018, 2017 and 2016.
The Lakes West Women’s 9-hole Golf League held its annual golf tournament in March, with play every Tuesday of the month. The golfer’s best scores determined the winners within various flights and the overall club championship.
Townsend is from Wasilla, Alaska. She and her husband Rick are now retired but they own a specialty cabinet company with their son-in-law in Alaska. She began playing golf in 2006 and took lessons from a friend who was a golf pro. She is now an Arizona resident and was introduced to the area by her aunt, Sharon Olson, who also plays in the same Sun City golf league.
Townsend was also “Club Champion” in the Sun City Women’s city-wide golf invitational tournament in March, at the Quail Run Golf Course. She has won this tournament five times.
