Temple Beth Shalom of the West Valley, 12202 N. 101st Ave., will present a three-part interfaith series, “The Importance of Character Development in Our Lives Today,” starting in November.
“Modern positive psychology suggests that character is not simply fixed,” Rabbi Dana Evan Kaplan, who will lead the discussions, said. “It can be understood, strengthened and developed throughout life.”
The series is open to people of all faiths. Participants will explore the character strengths that help people flourish: curiosity, perseverance, kindness, hope, wisdom, gratitude and humor.
“It is about more than becoming ‘better people,’” Kaplan said. “It is about living with greater purpose, building stronger relationships, handling adversity more effectively, and discovering new possibilities for growth at every stage of life. Character matters—and it is never too late to work on ours.”
The series will be 10-11:30 a.m. Monday’s Nov. 2, 9 and 16 at the temple.
Cost is $20 for temple members and $35 for non-members. A discount is available by purchasing a coupon book of four courses.
The registration deadline is noon Wednesday, Oct. 28 by calling the temple office at 623-977-3240. Online registration and payment is also available at tbsaz.org.
