SPECIAL TO THE INDEPENDENT
Royal Oaks Life Plan Community recently was awarded the Platinum first place prize in the Environment for Aging Honors 2nd Annual Top Senior Living Dining Space Competition. The senior community’s architectural firm, Perkins Eastman of Chicago, IL, who designed Inspirata Pointe, Royal Oaks newest living venue, nominated them.
Competing with more than 30 other nominees from Arizona to Florida with stops in Texas and the Carolinas, Royal Oaks was chosen for first place while two its entrants received gold and silver recognition.
“This was a real surprise,” Gretchen Cobb, Royal Oaks chief operating officer, said. “I think the award speaks to the effort the architects put into the design to make dining a truly community experience for our residents.”
Cobb, who was intimate with each detail of the construction project, also served as the community’s liaison with both the architects and the builders.
“We are so honored to have been selected. Just a few years ago, Inspirata Pointe was just an idea on a drawing board, but construction began earnestly in 2020 and we now see the success behind the design,” said Kendra Eberhart, Royal Oaks chief executive officer. “And the fact that we competed nationally makes the award doubly appreciated.”
