Sun City temple to present Jewish photographic journey

Posted

What can a small brass stone in a sidewalk reveal about a family, a city, a lost life?

Temple Beth Shalom of the West Valley will present a Jewish photographic journey 1:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8 at the temple, 12202 N. 101st Ave.

Called the Stolpersteine or “stumbling stones”, they commemorate victims of Nazi persecution. As children of Holocaust survivors, Sheldon Wecker and his wife, Gail, bring a personal perspective to these sites.

Wecker of the Grand Photos Club will present his Jewish photographic journey across Europe and Asia, weaving together travel, history and remembrance, exploring Jewish memorials, synagogues and neighborhoods, which connect history with personal memory.

There is no admission fee, but RSVP is required by Sunday Nov. 1. For more information, call 623-977-3240.
