Sun City DAR members judge costume contest

National U.S. Constitution Day is Sept. 17, commemorating the signing of the United States Constitution in 1787 by delegates to the Constitutional Convention in Philadelphia.  2026 marks the 239th Anniversary of the signing of the Constitution.

In late September, the Surprise Canyon Ridge School 7th grade history class participated in a costume contest. They were assigned to choose an American founding father or Revolutionary War patriot to portray.  Six judges used score sheets to determine who the first, second and third place winners would be. The students were judged for historical accuracy, character portrayal, creativity, speaking skills, costume and appearance.

There were three judges from the Sun City National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Agua Fria Chapter including chapter registrar Cindy Miers, past regent Linda Lundberg and chapter treasurer Jane Woehrle.
