Lakeview United Methodist Church, 10298 W. Thunderbird Blvd., is hosting Bark-O-Treat Pet Blessing and Costume Contest 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 31 in the church courtyard. Pets and their owners are invited to attend dressed for the occasion.
Judges will award first, second and third place ribbons to the winners.
Pastor Kristin Hansen will bless both the pet and the owner for the joy they bring to each other’s lives. There will also be a drive-up blessing area for pets that need to remain in the car. This will make it possible for pets that are anxious, unable to walk easily or are simply more comfortable in the car to receive a blessing.
People without pets are welcomed too. Owners are invited to bring a picture or a memory of their alive or deceased pet for the bulletin board.
Pet supplies, food and monetary donations will be accepted and will be given to a local pet charity.
