Dan (Recreation Centers of Sun City board president Dan Schreoder), your comments as to why rec fees shouldn’t be lowered or refunded doesn’t hold water.
You state that the fees are based on projected costs, however since your board has closed down all the centers, the cost of electricity, gas and water has been greatly reduced, just to name some of the obvious. I don’t know if you’ve continued to pay the employees their wages at the same amount as before but I doubt it as many of them are paid hourly. If this is true, then payroll has also been reduced. Therefore, your entire argument has more holes than Swiss cheese.
You and the board should do the right thing and refund the pro-rate amount for the months you’ve closed the rec centers or reduce next year’s assessment by the same amount.
