The Sonoran Sounds Women’s Chorale, under the direction of Sue Powell and accompanied by Jan Schaafsma, sang for three different groups to honor United States veterans.
They visited Sierra Winds Senior Living Community in Peoria, Arizona Traditions Retirement Community in Surprise and Fellowship Square of Surprise. Kay Young, Sonoran Sound member and flautist, joined the group on several selections.
Troy Bowden and Barbara Peters were happy to pose with members of the chorale. Bowden served in South Korea with the U.S. Army. Pictured from left are Sue Pedersen, Peters, Bowden, Pam Hilinski, and Bonita Skidmore.
Skidmore, along with her daughters, Sherena McMurdie and Amanda Zerbe, composed one of the patriotic songs that was performed, “Where Our Hearts Belong.”
