Sedivic: Disabled vet blessed by scooter gift from Sun City Elks

Posted

I am a U.S. Navy veteran that has had limited mobility problems due to Agent Orange.

I am blessed that on July 12, 2019 a power scooter was donated by Mrs. Mary Williams, whose husband was a World War II veteran that had passed on. Mrs. Williams no longer had need for the scooter. She chose to donate the scooter to a veterans organization that would make the best use of it.

She contacted the company that sold the scooter to her and asked for advice from the owner of Southwest Mobility, Mr. Jeff Sturrett. He called Mr. Gary Drumheller, Sun City Elks veterans chairman, and informed him of the donation. He responded at the opportunity to receive the scooter as he knew of a veteran in need of a scooter. The scooter needed a new battery and minor maintenance before it could be usable.

The Sun City Elks Lodge paid for any parts required and the battery was replaced free of charge. Southwest Mobility did all minor maintenance free of charge.

The Elks and Southwest owner and representatives presented the scooter July 12 to myself.

My humble and grateful thanks from myself and my wife, Jeanette are given to the following people — the Sun City Elks Lodge; Mr. Gary Drumheller, veterans chairman; Mrs. Mary Williams; and Jeff Sturrett, owner and manager of Southwest Mobility. May God bless you all.
