Gary A Thorfinnson

Gary A. Thorfinnson, a devoted husband, loving father, and cherished grandfather, passed away on January 23, 2024, at the age of 83. His death was preceded by his parents and younger sister, Linda Skinner. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Elaine Thorfinnson, his sister, Moonyeen Park, three sons (Brad and Kris Thorfinnson) (Brian and Debbie Thorfinnson) (David Thorfinnson) and, five grandchildren, one great-grandchild with another on the way. Born on December 15, 1940, to Clarence and Una Thorfinnson in Devil's Lake, North Dakota. Gary grew up in Grand Forks, ND, where he married Elaine. They later moved to Sioux Falls, SD, where he and his loving wife raised their family before moving to Phoenix in 1984. He was a man who understood the importance of family. His fondest moments were spent at the lakes, specifically Beltrami, Minnesota, and Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, enjoying wonderful times with his family. One such memory was his 50th wedding anniversary in Coeur d'Alene, where he renewed his vows to his beautiful wife, in a surprise wedding, planned by him, and surrounded by family and friends. A successful salesman and businessman, Gary took pride in his professional achievements, earning the respect of colleagues and clients alike. A proud member of the Masonic Trinity Lodge and a drummer in the Shriners El Riad Oriental band, Gary contributed to his community and enjoyed his many friendships. Gary's passions were varied and enriched the lives of those around him. He showcased his cooking prowess on the Weber Grill, creating culinary masterpieces that delighted family and friends alike, despite his incessant search for compliments. He liked to golf and was a huge sports enthusiast, he could often be found cheering on his favorite teams. His love for travel and books took him to new horizons. His favorite movie, "My Fair Lady," and his appreciation for the Chad Mitchell Trio's music reflected his timeless taste. Known for his love, kindness, and sense of humor, Gary A. Thorfinnson leaves behind a legacy of laughter, love, and lasting memories. His departure is mourned by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
