It wasn’t long after Arizonans were ordered to isolate in their homes that Marinette Clay Club member Dawn Delaney began thinking about what she could do to make her fellow club members and friends smile during a tough time.
Ms. Delaney, a volunteer shelter supervisor with the Red Cross who was not currently working that capacity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, decided she could bake scones.
“My philosophy,” she said, “is if you are more fortunate than others, build a longer table, not a taller fence. Scones happened to be my table.”
Through email communication, Ms. Delaney’s message went out and many club members took advantage of her offer. With the assistance of her wife, Lisa Carlson, several club members were recipients of three different social distance scone delivery opportunities.
