Vicki Stonelake, Linda Westmoreland, Jody Swank, Dottie Feil and Tish Alicki, members of the nonprofit Sun City Caring Angels, were among the members invited to view their additional working location at the Sun City Christian Church, 9745 W. Palmeras Drive.
The new room, which has much more space to work in and storage for supplies, has been dedicated to the Caring Angels to make sleeping mats, which are made from recycled plastic shopping bags for homeless veterans.
Several Caring Angels members also purchased $15 gift cards from McDonalds, Burger King and Wendy’s, which will be added to backpacks containing other supplies along with the plastic sleeping taken to the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 62, to be delivered to the VA Hospital in Phoenix for homeless veterans receiving cancer treatments.
Anyone is interested in donating plastic bags and/or joining Caring Angels can contact yarning8@cox.net.
