The 48th annual show from the Desert Aires Barbershop Chorus, “Radio Days,” is 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Sundial auditorium, 14801 N. 103rd Ave.
This chorus was formed in 1976 by West Valley residents with a love for singing this harmonic music. It was and is their desire to preserve this nostalgic music form.
The Desert Aires Barbershop Chorus continues to win awards in annual competitions and can be heard performing a cappella, close four-part harmony at various community events in the West Valley.
In addition to the music of the chorus and its multiple quartets, the show will also feature the Wicked Pitch of the West, a women’s a cappella chorus based in Scottsdale. That chorus was established in 2017 to enhance community well-being by bringing live a cappella music into public spaces.
As a pre-show, the Sun City Stomperz Dixieland Jazz Band will entertain the audience. Swinging since 2005, the Stomperz concentrate on the jazz music of the early 20th century, the beginnings of what has become known as America’s only original art form. The pre-show starts at 1:30 p.m.
