AARP tax season extended in Sun City

Follows new national deadline

Posted

Congress passed a bill that extended the tax season until May 17.

Therefore, the AARP Tax-Aide in Sun City will extend its season accordingly. As of this writing Arizona, has not passed a conforming bill. The Arizona Property Tax Credit must be filed by Thursday, April 15. An extension for filing the 140PTC can be accomplished by filing the extension form AZ204 and check the 140PTC box on this form and mailing it to Arizona by April 15.

The Sun City tax program is open for taxpayers at all income levels, but AARP Tax-Aide was able to open this year in only four of the 10 offices in the West Valley. In additional to the COVID-19 protocols, AARP Tax-Aide officials needed to reduce the number of taxpayers that they served. The combination of increased demand and reduced resources caused many people to be disappointed this season. Tax-Aide officials are hoping those taxpayers that are able to afford a paid preparer will do so and leave the limited appointments to those that cannot afford a paid preparer.

To schedule an appointment, contact Sun City Community Assistance Network at 623-933-7530. Call between the hours of 8 a.m. and noon. Messages left after these hours may not be returned.

The Sun City Community Assistance Network office, 10195 W. Coggins Drive, hosts the AARP Tax-Aide program in Sun City.
