You can make this school year great for kids in foster care

Posted

As schools across the valley start a new school year, students who are in the foster care system may return without adequate supplies. You can help change that.

AASK’s annual backpack drive provides hundreds of students with brand new backpacks filled with the supplies they need for a successful school year. Not only do these backpacks help kids and teen academically, but boosts their confidence because they feel like they fit in better with their peers.

You can help this year’s drive in several ways:

Host your own drive: You can host a backpack drive collecting supplies with friends, family members, and coworkers and then arrange a pick up or drop off time with AASK.

Shop our Amazon Wish List: AASK’s Amazon Wish List ensures the most needed supplies are purchased and get in the hands of students quicker.

Donate: Give a financial donation and AASK will take care of the shopping!

Help youth in foster care succeed this year and set their sights on achieving their dreams. Visit aask-az.org/backpack-drive to give a gift, shop the Amazon Wish List, and to start your own backpack drive.

For more information on children in foster care eligible for adoption, call Aid to Adoption of Special Kids at 602.930.4900, or visit www.aask-az.org.

Editor's note: Ms. Gaieck is a copywriter at AASK - Aid to Adoption of Special Kids. She will be submitting articles regularly to the Daily Independent at YourValley.net in hopes to find children forever families.
