The public is welcome to attend Peace in the Desert Church’s chartering during Sunday worship service 10 a.m. No. 15 at 11735 N. Scottsdale Road, in Scottsdale.
The ceremony will formally recognize the congregation as a union of the United Methodist Church (Desert Southwest Conference) and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (Grand Canyon Synod), according to a press release from Peace in the Desert church..
Peace in the Desert Church launched August 1, 2026, from the merger of North Scottsdale United Methodist Church, founded in 1978, and Ascension Lutheran Church, founded in 1952. Chartering Sunday marks the point at which both denominations formally constitute the congregation as one church.
