Ms. Clifford questions where some of her mail has gone and wonders if more than theft from USPS employees is happening.
I share her concern. Each time I receive an “occasion” card — birthday, holiday, Mother’s Day card — my envelope comes with a slit at the bottom of the envelope. “Occasion” cards are easy to identify, usually a colored envelope, square in size.
Someone is looking for cash inside these envelopes. They create a slit, tape the envelope around and can easily see inside.
Fellow mail recipients, always put the crease side of the card you are sending down into the envelope.
Keep a eye on your envelopes. I’ve reported these envelope openings to the post office with no response.
