MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) — Joshua Wood threw for 335 yards and three touchdowns and added a rushing touchdown to lead Idaho to a 42-35 upset of Montana on Saturday in the battle for the Little Brown Stein.

With the Vandals scoring on six of seven possessions and the Grizzlies on five straight, the win wasn't secure until Montana, ranked No. 7 in the Football Championship Subdivision Stats Perform poll, threw an incompletion on fourth down from the Idaho 19 with 33 seconds left.

Wood threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Zack Card and a 14-yarder to Ryan Jerzioro and scored on a 2-yard run as the Vandals (2-5, 2-2 Big Sky Conference) took a 21-14 lead at halftime.

The teams combined to score on six consecutive possessions in the second half with the Vandals, who upset top-ranked and defending national champion Montana State two weeks earlier, getting two rushing touchdowns and a 13-yard scoring reception by Jezioro.

Wood finished 30-of-38 passing with an interception and had a team-best 85 yards on the ground.

Keali'i Ah Yah was 25-of-31 passing for 338 yards for Montana (5-3, 3-2) with five touchdowns, three to Brooks Davis, who had eight receptions for 104 yards. Eli Gillman, who had 139 yards rushing on 19 carries, also had a touchdown catch.

The teams combined for 974 yards and 56 first downs but Idaho held the ball about 11 1/2 minutes longer than the Grizzlies.

Before upsetting Montana State Idaho lost three FCS nonconference games by a total of 12 points.
