Violet Kaufman

Violet went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 14, 2024 at the age of 80. She was born on September 24, 1943 to Joseph and Viola Urode in Buffalo, New York.
Violet attended Cheektowaga Central High School in Cheektowaga, New York and earned her Associate’s degree from Genesee Community College in Batavia,
New York.
She married her loving husband, Mervin Kaufman in 1971 in Akron, New York. She worked as a payroll and accounting clerk in New York and California before retiring in San Diego, California. She enjoyed traveling all throughout the U.S and to Poland to visit family.
Violet was a woman of strong faith and enjoyed serving others by teaching Sunday school, participating in church mission trips, caregiving for the elderly, lifting others up during difficult times in their lives, and serving in various roles at a TOPS group in Sun City. Violet was a dear friend to many, had a contagious smile, was always positive and had an endearing, sassy side to her. She will be deeply missed by those who knew her.
Violet was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who leaves behind her husband of 52 years, Mervin Kaufman; her children: Marty (Ann) Mazurik, Michelle (Scott) Maybaum, Marie (Frank) Kuhn; grandchildren Joe Mazurik, Luke Mazurik, Grace Mazurik, Jonathan Maybaum, Valerie Maybaum, Andrew Kuhn, and Zoe Kuhn; as well as 25 nieces and nephews, many whom she treated like they were her own children. She is pre-deceased by her brother, Raymond Urode and sisters, Sally Clabeau and Lee Miller.
Violet’s family would like to extend our gratitude to the staff at Banner Boswell Hospital and MD Anderson Cancer Center, and Thunderbird Hospice of the Valley for their care and attentive comfort.
At a later date, there will be a celebration of life for Violet. Her family asks that if you are so moved, donations in Violet’s honor be made to Hospice of the Valley, Banner Olive Branch Senior Center Food Program, or Sun City Fire Department.
