Two men were indicted earlier this month on multiple felony charges involved with possessing and selling more than 75 pounds of fentanyl pills in the Tucson area last year.
Baltazar Quintero Bueno and Dalia Rodriguez De-Padilla were indicted by a Pima County grand jury. Bueno was indicted on 13 felonies and De-Padilla was indicted on three involving possession and sale of fentanyl in southern Arizona between March and December 2024.
Bueno was arrested Dec. 23 by Arizona Department of Public Safety officers while transporting 4.65 pounds of pills and two-tenths of an ounce of cocaine, according to a press release.
A search of his residence yielded 73.3 pounds of fentanyl pills, 1.75 pounds of fentanyl powder and more than one-third of a pound of methamphetamine. Investigators also found $5,000 in cash and three pistols, according to the release.
The search led to various charges against Bueno and De-Padilla. Bueno was charged with a count for possession for each of the materials, as well charges involved sales of fentanyl on May 28 and June 11. He and De-Padilla both were changed with conspiracy and illegally conducting an enterprise.
The men were arraigned on Jan. 9 and entered not guilty pleas.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety investigated this case and Assistant Attorney General Sabrina Lochner will prosecute the case. All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law and convicted by a jury.
