CHORUS: Rehearse for the Sun City Women’s Chorus 8:45-11 a.m. Feb. 23 at the Fairway Recreation Center, 10600 W. Peoria Ave. The Sun City Women’s Chorus has been performing in Sun City for 55 years. It was the first chartered club whose members come from a variety of backgrounds. The chorus gives two concerts a year; one in Spring and one in December. PHOTOGRAPHER: Learn about Louise Serpa, the first woman rodeo photographer, 3-5 p.m. Feb. 23 at the R.H. Johnson Lecture Hall, 19803 N. R.H. Johnson Blvd. Born into New York society, Mrs. Serpa ended up out west with her nose buried in the dirt and her eye glued to a camera, becoming the first woman to venture inside the arena and shoot some photographs of rodeo action. The dust and dirt of the rodeo arena became Louise’s lifeblood for almost 50 years. Instructor Jan Cleere is an author, historian, and lecturer who will be talking about Mrs. Serpa. Tickets are $10. PLAY: Watch the play “The Shape of Things” by Neil Labute 7:30-9 p.m. Feb. 24 at Glendale Community College, 6000 W. Olive Ave. During the play a young student drifts into an ever-changing relationship with an art major while his best friends’ engagement crumbles, so unleashing a drama that peels back the skin of two modern-day relationships. PRODUCTION: See the musical, “Sunday In The Park With George,” 7:30 p.m. Feb. 24 at Theater Works, 8355 W. Peoria Ave. Inspired by the painting A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte by Georges Seurat, “Sunday In The Park With George” merges the past and present. FARMERS MARKET: Attend a farmers market 8 a.m.-noon Feb. 25 at the First United Methodist Church, 7102 N. 58th Drive. In addition to the brush-fed beef, new vendors will participate in the market this season, from local craft artisans, to other local business owners, food vendors and restaurants. Each event will see around 40 vendors total. In addition, the purpose of the market is to provide a marketplace for healthy, nutritious and sustainable foods systems for residents throughout the Valley.
