No cost kits end May 11

In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Medicare has been covering the cost of at-home COVID-19 testing for eligible individuals.

The program, which began April 2, 2022, provided free testing kits to help individuals identify their COVID-19 status from the comfort of their own homes. However, Medicare’s coverage of at-home COVID-19 testing is set to end Thursday, May 11. After this date, individuals who wish to get tested for COVID-19 will need to seek alternative testing options.

Rightway Pharmacy, 14806 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City has a supply of the at home testing kits that can be picked up by customers before the deadline.

“We understand the importance of testing during this pandemic and have been committed to providing access to at-home testing,” said Ken Patel, Rightway manager. “Thanks to Medicare, we have been able to provide these test kits to Medicare beneficiaries for free.”

The at-home COVID-19 testing kits have proven to be a valuable resource for individuals who may not have easy access to traditional testing sites or who may feel more comfortable testing at home. The kits are simple to use and provide results within minutes.

Medicare beneficiaries who have not yet taken advantage of the free at-home testing program are encouraged to do so before the May 11 deadline, Patel said. Eligible individuals can come to Rightway Pharmacy and pick up the at home COVID tests.
